FaqsDo you take insurance?
I do not accept insurance at this time. However, if you have out-of-network benefits, I’m happy to provide a superbill that includes the dates of service and fees paid. You can submit this to your insurance company for reimbursement, depending on your plan. I recommend calling the number on the back of your insurance card to ask about your out-of-network mental health benefits and the process for submitting claims. This can help you determine whether using superbills makes sense for you. How does the sliding scale work?
I offer a limited number of sliding scale spots for those who need a reduced fee. This option is meant to support individuals who would feel ongoing stress or strain trying to meet their basic needs while paying the full fee.
If you’re not sure whether sliding scale is right for you, it can be helpful to reflect on your current financial picture. For some, the full fee would make it difficult to cover essentials or feel stable month to month. For others, it may be manageable with some temporary shifts in discretionary spending. Alexis J. Cunningfolk offers a framework for thinking through this, called the Green Bottle Method, which you’re welcome to explore if it feels useful. Image adaptation by Soft Centre. Do you work with people outside of Arizona?
I do not. I am only licensed to provide psychotherapy to clients located in Arizona. What happens in a consult call?
The consultation call is a low-pressure, 15-minute conversation. I'll ask you a little about what's bringing you to therapy and what you're looking for, and you're welcome to ask me anything about how I work, my approach, or what sessions typically look like. Afterward, I'll follow up by email so you have some time to consider and explore other options if you'd like. If I'm not the right fit, I'm happy to help point you in the right direction. I'm not sure if therapy is for me. How do I know if
I need it? If you're asking the question, that's usually reason enough to explore it. Therapy isn't reserved for crisis or rock bottom. A lot of the people I work with describe feeling like they're managing just fine on the outside while something quieter is going on underneath—a low hum of anxiety, a sense of being stuck, relationships that feel harder than they should, or a persistent feeling that something is off. If any of that sounds familiar, the consultation call is a good place to start. What happens in the first session?
The first session is really about getting to know each other. I'll ask about what brought you in, a little about your history and background, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. It's also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and ask any questions you didn't get to during the consultation. By the end, we'll start to get a sense of what we're working toward together. Do you use AI?
No. I believe in the sacred humanness of therapy, and that extends to how I run my practice behind the scenes. I do not use AI notetakers, AI-generated session summaries, or any other AI recording technology in my work. What happens in the room stays between us and is documented by me, in my own words, with care. Can you diagnosis mental health conditions?
Yes, assessment and diagnosis of most mental health conditions is within my scope of practice as a licensed counselor in Arizona. However, neurodevelopmental conditions, such as autism or ADHD, require a level of specialized assessment that goes beyond what I do in therapy. If in our work together, I suspect that you may benefit from a formal evaluation, I will provide you a referral to a trusted neuropsychologist and we can use those results to inform your treatment together. I have heard hundreds of stories of people spending years trying to get to the right answer: cycling through misdiagnoses, feeling dismissed, and wondering if they're making it up. I am passionate about helping you get diagnostic clarity so that we can make treatment as effective as possible. |
